About Sandy Skinner

Skinner Family

Born and raised in the small town of Haviland, Kansas, music has always been a huge part of Sandy Skinner's life. Combining many years of piano lessons with a natural ear for music, she has blessed many with her beautiful music. She accompanied her first church cantata at age 13 and continued to play for church and accompany various choirs and music groups during her high school and college years. For over a decade she, along with her husband, served as music worship leaders in their home church in Hugoton, KS. She continues to use her talents in her church and community playing for weddings, funerals, retreats, and many other events.

The thought of recording her music never occurred to her until her mother passed away after suffering from Alzheimer's for many years. As a gift to her mother she made a tape of favorite hymns to be played at the funeral. After many requests for copies of the tape, she decided to “do it right” and go to a professional recording studio. She then added orchestration to her original hymn arrangements and made her first solo album, “Peaceful Praises.” As a wife and mother of three grown daughters (plus six grandkids), she realizes the importance of a mother's influence in life and made this piano CD as a tribute to her own mother.

The response to her first CD was so encouraging that she recently released her second album of fresh, new hymn arrangements titled, “Reflections.” Looking back over her life, she reflects on all the people that have influenced her, not only in music, but in her spiritual walk. She considers it a privilege to have grown up in a Christian home and has dedicated this album to her dad for his consistent example of a godly father. Her one desire is to reflect Christ through her music and in every area of life.

A new release in 2011 has been added to her collection of piano music titled, “Sounds of Christmas.” It's always such a fun time of the year, with family and friends, but it's so easy to get caught up in the excitement and busyness of the season,¬†and forget why we celebrate. The sounds of these beautiful new renditions of favorite carols will help focus on the real reason we celebrate Christmas.

Sandy Skinner is an accomplished pianist and her instrumental melodies have a calming and soothing effect as background piano music. The religious hymns reflect her heart and love for God and are inspirational and good for meditation times. Sandy's Christmas music arrangements in her CD, “Sounds of Christmas,” feature a traditional twist on classic tunes for this Christian holiday. Other church music in “Peaceful Praises” and “Reflections” include It is Well with My Soul, How Great Thou Art, Amazing Grace, Great is Thy Faithfulness, Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us and more!
